2011 Headliners

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Originally hailing from the Greco-Roman stable, TEED has released three EPs with the Berlin and London party-starters. TEED's balance of pop sensibility, sharp basslines and dance floor melancholy has charmed everyone from Annie Mac to James Holden. With releases such as ‘Household Goods’, championed by Radio 1, TEED has been propelled to become one of dance music’s brightest new talents. Raised as the son of an Oxford University music professor and still Oxford based, Orlando Higginbottom was lured into the countryside by the rumblings of early jungle. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs swings between overt musicality and scarily on-point dance floor intuition, ripping up gigs around the globe with his live show of bizarre instruments, glitter cannons and of course... dancing dinosaurs. Having survived Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs has now signed to Polydor Records and will release a debut album this Summer.

A Guy Called Gerald Live

A Guy Called Gerald The legendary A Guy Called Gerald appears on the Microclimate stage from headlining the 'I Love Acid' arena at this years sell out Bloc Weekend in March. Gerald pretty much kick-started UK acid house with his ’88 Hacienda classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State‘ (he was one of the founding members of 808 State) – gatecrashing the charts in the process – he went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle music - and has since continued his role as one of the UK’s most dedicated producers. On top of releases on seminal labels like Perlon, Sender, !K7 and Beatstreet over the past 10 years, GCG released his 9th album ‘Tronic Jazz: The Berlin Sessions’ last year on specialist Berlin label Laboratory Instinct. We welcome one of dance music’s most unassuming heroes to take us way back to a time when US imports were streaming into the underground record stores in Manchester.
Prime Cuts (Scratch Perverts)

Prime Cuts (Scratch Perverts) Primecuts first played at Scratch back in 98′ and it was clear even in the early days that this DJ had special skills on the ‘Wheels of Steel’. One year later he and the other Scratch Perverts, (Tony Vegas, Mr Thing and First Rate) went on to win the world-renowned 99′ World DMC Team title, in NYC. Since then the Perverts with Primecuts, Tony Vegas and Plus One at the helm have gone from strength to strength, not just touring the world showcasing their world class turntable skills, but also releasing and producing quality music and remixes.
Lee Mortimer

Lee Mortimer Lee Mortimer is fast becoming the hottest DJ of the moment with his unique take on bass-fuelled house music. Lee is keen to point out ‘anything heavy, electronic and above all else, BIG(!) will make it into my sets!’ These sets are getting bigger too with jaunts around the world playing clubs as far a field as Singapore and Australia where he will soon be an underground superstar. He also played most of the UK festivals in 2009 and 2010 with a storming turn at Bestival which had the crowd going mental in the middle of the day! As well as his sterling efforts on the wheels of steel he has also made a name for himself as a producer par excellence with tracks signed to Fool’s Gold, Dubsided, CR2 and Made to Play. He’s also provided remixes for bands such as Franz Ferdinand, The Futureheads and Bombay Bicycle Club to name but a few. He has also re-jigged tunes by Foamo, DJ Zinc, Dave Spoon & Pete Tong to spine tingling effect. Many of these mixes have also appeared on compilations by Claude Von Stroke, Plump DJs and Kissy Sell Out. Within his crowd pleasing sets Mr Mortimer will drop many a record that he’s had a hand in production wise. Most successful of these is the collaboration with Laidback Luke on the enormous club anthem ‘Blau!’ This was one of the biggest tunes of 2009 with DJ’s such a Crookers, Annie Mac and Tiesto giving it their full support.
DJ Derek

DJ Derek In a career spanning more than 40 years, DJ Derek has become a globe-trotting reggae phenomenon, influencing fellow Bristolians MASSIVE ATTACK and even starring in DIZZEE RASCAL's recent video 'Dirtee Disco'. Such has been his popularity on dancefloors the world over, he was able to quit his job as an accountant in the mid-seventies to earn his living in clubland ever since. Though he should have retired years ago, his appearances at the likes of The Big Chill, Glastonbury and Bestival have added to his iconic status, and the reggae grandaddy's services are in demand more than ever. A resident at Skylarkin' Oxford for the past seven years, it's no underestimation to say that this man has given us some of the best nights of our lives. Expect an inimitable mix-up of reggae, ska, soul, rock n roll, and vintage jump-jive hepcat sleaze.
Eskimo Twins

Eskimo Twins Since meeting at university in Leeds, these two friends have shared their passion for music. After graduating, the pair immersed themselves in the city's clubbing and live music scene and began to make music together. After agreeing on their mutual appreciation of Techno, Classic House, Indie, Acid, Electro, and their lingering teenage love of Metal; the Twins busied themselves with tweaking and crafting a dark electronic sound, inter-mangled with their penchant for twisted pop sensibilities.
The Drop

The Drop The Drop, are a 9-piece roots-rock-reggae outfit based in and around London. They are part of the small but significant front-line of British new-wave reggae bands. They are pushing the British reggae revival that has been a long time in the coming.
